Replace the needle of insulin pen:
First of all, the insulin needle should be "used and replaced" because our diabetes patients have high blood sugar and sticky blood, which leads to poor skin self-healing ability. Repeated use of the same needle will greatly increase the risk of cross infection. In addition, at present, painless injection with 4mm ultra-fine needle is mostly used to avoid the risk of needle breakage in the skin. After replacing the insulin needle every time, we should exhaust the air to avoid waste. We should rotate 1-2 units each time to exhaust. After the exhaust is successful, we start to inject insulin.
Location and injection method of insulin:
Insulin injection sites can be selected from the upper arm, abdomen, buttocks and outer thigh. The abdominal injection site is 5cm away from both sides of the navel. It is not suitable to inject the upper and lower parts of the navel. The blood vessels are too rich to puncture the capillaries, causing skin bruise and bleeding. The commonly used insulin injection sites are the abdomen and the lateral side of the upper arm, which are suitable for short-acting insulin, with faster absorption and better effect. The absorption speed of the hip and the outer thigh is relatively slow, which is suitable for injection of medium and long-term insulin and plays a role in slowly releasing insulin.
Clean hands and keep hands clean before insulin injection. If the insulin is placed in the refrigerator, it needs to be taken out 30 minutes in advance and put in the room temperature for rewarming to avoid aggravating the pain during injection. Check the type and injection dose of insulin, and replace it if it is less than 12 units. Refer to the insulin manufacturer to install the insulin refill. If the premixed insulin needs to be fully mixed until it turns into a uniform cloud of white liquid. Check the injection site, ensure that the selected site is free of redness and swelling and induration, adjust the insulin to the dose we want to inject, take an alcohol cotton swab, and sterilize it at least more than 5cm away from the puncture point by spiraling from the inside to the outside. After drying, inject the aspirated insulin needle vertically into the selected site, inject it quickly and slowly, and leave the drug solution under the skin for 10 seconds after the injection, so as to avoid wasting the drug solution due to too fast extraction speed, Give full play to the role of insulin. After the injection, immediately screw on the outer needle cap to discard the needle, and discard it in a covered hard shell container. Store at room temperature below 25 ℃ to avoid sunlight. Prepare ice bags and insulin injection bags when going out in summer. Keep unopened insulin in a refrigerator at 2-8 ℃ for refrigeration. After insulin injection, eat regularly to avoid hypoglycemia.
